Day 01: Arrival Chennai

This day arrive at the Chennai airport. Our representative will assist you to get transfer to your pre booked hotel. Relax and get rid of the jet lag. Stay overnight in the hotel.

   
Day 02: Chennai – Thiruthani – Tirupati

Have breakfast in the hotel and get driven to Tirupati. Enroute visit Thiruthani Murugan Temple. Thiruthani is the fifth abode where Lord Muruga landed to calm himself after the war and victory over Sura Padma for which he was born. Thiruthani is located 84 kilometers Northwest of Chennai. The Muruga temple has 356 steps, each representing a day in the year..

After the visit get driven to Tirupati. Reach there and check in the pre booked hotel. The rest of the day will be for leisure activities. Stay overnight in the hotel.

   
Day 03: Tirupati – Chennai

Have breakfast in the hotel. This day go to Tirupati Balaji Temple to pay your obeisance there. Then get driven to Chennai. Reach there and check in the pre booked hotel. Evening will be free for leisure activities. Stay overnight in the hotel.

   
Day 04: Chennai

Have breakfast in the hotel. The day will be for sightseeing of Chennai. In the evening come back to hotel for overnight stay. Chennai Sightseeing includes visit to:

  • Fort St George and St Mary’s Church
  • Fort museum
  • Kaapaleeswarar Temple
  • Sree Parthasarathy Temple
  • St. Thomas Bascilica
   
Day 05: Chennai – Pondicherry

After breakfast check out and get driven to Pondicherry. Reach there and check in the pre booked hotel. Then you will be taken for sightseeing. Place to visit includes:

  • Gingee Fort
  • Museum
  • Eglise De Sacre Coeur De Jesus
  • Later return back to the hotel. Stay overnight in the hotel.
     
Day 06: Pondicherry – Kumbakonam

Have breakfast in the hotel. Check out and get driven to Kumbakonam. Check in the pre booked hotel. The day will be for sightseeing of the following

Alangudi Abathsahayeswarar Temple which is dedicated to Brihaspati (Guru or Vyazhan or Planet Jupiter)

Suriyanar Temple which is dedicated to Sun Temple.

  • Kanjanoor Agneeswarar Temple which is dedicated to Sukran (Velli or Planet Venus).
  • Swami Malai Muruga Temple.
  • Swami Malai is the fourth among the Arupadai Veedu and is located near Kumbakonam, on the banks of river Cauvery. Muruga teaches the meaning of the cosmic word “AUM” to his father lord Shiva, in this abode. Shiva sits posed as a student with reverence to his son in Swami Malai. The Muruga temple has 60 steps each named after one of the 60 Tamil years.
  • After the visit return back to the hotel for overnight stay.

     
Day 07: Kumbakonam – Palani

Have breakfast in the hotel. Check out and get driven to Palani. Check in the hotel. Then get driven to see the Palani Muruga Temple. After the visit return back to the hotel for overnight stay.

Palani is the third house of Arupadai Veedu of Lord Muruga. This is the place that Muruga left for after a quarrel with his parents, Lord Shiva and Parv ati over a divine fruit which was offered to his brother Ganapati after a competition of going around the world.

   
Day 08: Palani – Madurai

After breakfast, get driven to Madurai. Check in the pre booked hotel. The day will be for city tour of Madurai. Madurai is famous for Meenakshi Temple built by kulasekara Pandaya. One of the temple dedicated to Meenaksahi (Parwati) and other to Lord Sundreswarar (Shiva). Tirumalai Nayakkar Mahal is about 1km south east of the Meenakshi temple, illustrate the architectural mastery of the Nayaks. Places to visit include

  • Meenakshi temple
  • Thirumalai Nayak Palace
  • Teppakulam
  • Tiruparangundram Murugan Temple
  • Pazhamudir Cholai

Tiruparangundram, the first Arupadai Veedu, is located 5 miles Southwest of Madurai. Since Lord Muruga married his first wife Devasena at this place, Hindus consider this Muruga temple auspicious for marriages. The Muruga temple was constructed by Viswakarma, the divine sculptor. The specialty of the temple is its 48 pillars and the fact that the innermost shrine is carved from a single rock.

Pazhamudir Cholai is located 13 kilometers North of Madurai. This is a dense hill forest filled with springs, herbs, fruits and flowers where his second wife Valli lived. The Tamil poet Avvaiyar was tested by Lord Muruga in this place. It is the sixth and last among the Arupadai Veedu of Lord Muruga.

In the evening return back to the hotel and stay overnight.

   
Day 09: Madurai - Tiruchendur – Madurai

Have breakfast in the hotel. The day will be for excursion to Tiruchendur Murugan Temple. Tiruchendur is the second Arupadai Veedu where Lord Muruga camped to destroy the evil force of Surapadma. Lord Muruga was destined to be born for the sole purpose of conquering Surapadma and this is celebrated as Skanda Sashti, which falls six days after Diwali.

After the visit return back to the hotel. Stay overnight in the hotel.

   
Day 10: Madurai

Have breakfast in the hotel. Then as per your flight timings get transfer to Cochin International Airport to board your flight back home. Services from our side end here with sweet memories of the tour.
