Day 01: Arrival Chennai

This day arrive at the Chennai airport. Our representative will assist you to get transfer to your pre booked hotel. Relax and get rid of the jet lag. Stay overnight in the hotel.

   

Day 02: Chennai

Chennai the gracious city of ancient traditions is an urban agglomerate of over 5million people. It is the city of courtesy, charm and culture, with values of another day or age, still cherished here amidst the bustle of modern metropolis. In the evening come back to hotel for overnight stay.

Fort Museum:The museum has on its display many relics belonging to the times of British Raj in India and exhibits a collection of contemporary paintings as well as the rare military paraphernalia such as weapons, uniforms, coins, costumes and medals.

Kapaleeswarar Temple: The biggest temple in the city is a fine specimen of Dravidian architecture. The Shaiva temple has 13th century inscriptions and a 37-metre gopuram remarkable for its intricate carvings depicting stories from Hindu mythology.

Sri Parthasarathi Temple: The 8th century Krishna temple was built under the patronage of the Pallavas and enshrines idols of the five avataras of Sri Vishnu. The small temple inside is dedicated to Vishnu's consort, Vedavalli Ammai.

Santhome Cathedral: San Thome at the southern tip of Marina features the beautiful stained glass window at the basilica depicting the story of St Thomas and the central hall that has 14 wooden plaques depicting scenes from the last days of Christ. The 3-ft high statue of Virgin Mary was imported from Portugal in 1543.

The Marina Beach: The 12-km long famous Marina Beach is the second longest beach in the world. It is best to visit the beach early in the mornings or late in the evenings when the area becomes a virtual fair ground with food stalls and other entertainments.

   

Day 03: Chennai - Kanchipuram – Mahabalipuram

After breakfast drive to Mahabalipuram. En-route visit Kanchipuram. Kanchipuram is very famous for its Silk Sarees. This is one of the seven sacred cities of India. Its temples are spectacular and the gopums can be seen from miles away. Temples to visit include -

  • Varadaraja Perumal Temple
  • Kailasanatha temple
  • Ekambareshwara temple.

After the visit get driven to Mahabalipuram. Check in the pre booked hotel and stay overnight

   

Day 04: Mahabalipuram – Pondicherry

Have breakfast in the hotel. The day will be for sightseeing of Mahabalipuram. Mahabalipuram was the second capital and seaport of the Pallava kings of Kanchipuram the first Tamil dynasty of any real consequence to emerge after the fall of the Gupta Empire. Temples to visit include-

  • Shore Temple
  • Rath temples
  • After the visit get driven to Pondicherry. Check in the pre booked hotel and stay overnight.
   
Day 05: Pondicherry – Kumbakonam

Have breakfast in the hotel. This day you will be taken for sightseeing of Pondicherry. Place to visit includes:

  • Museum
  • Eglise De Sacre Coeur De Jesus
  • After the visit get driven to Kumbakonam. Check in the pre booked hotel and stay overnight.
Day 06: Kumbakonam – Tanjore

Have breakfast in the hotel. The day will be for sightseeing of Kumbakonam. Places of visit includes-

  • Suriyanar Temple which is dedicated to Sun Temple.
  • Kanjanoor Agneeswarar Temple which is dedicated to Sukran (Velli or Planet Venus).
  • Swami Malai Muruga Temple.
  • Swami Malai is the fourth among the Arupadai Veedu and is located near Kumbakonam, on the banks of river Cauvery. Muruga teaches the meaning of the cosmic word “AUM” to his father lord Shiva, in this abode. Shiva sits posed as a student with reverence to his son in Swami Malai. The Muruga temple has 60 steps each named after one of the 60 Tamil years.

Day 07: Tanjore - Karaikudi – Rameshwaram

Have breakfast in the hotel. Then you will be taken for sightseeing of Tanjore.

Though the history of Thanjavur dates back to the Sangam age, it was between the 10th and 14th centuries that Thanjavur reached its zenith becoming the centre of Tamil learning and culture. Modern Thanjavur is a fertile plain which is often referred to as the "rice bowl" of Tamil Nadu. The places to visit include -

  • Brihadeeshwara temple
  • Palace
  • Schwartz church
  • Then get driven to Karaikudi.

KARAIKUDI Chettinadu or the land of Nattukkottai Chettiars, is famous for its fortress like homes and temples that are architectural marvels and lip smacking food. It is a hidden treasure. The palaces and mansions reflect a conglomeration of architecture an building styles. Burma teak motif, handmade tiles, stained glass windows, elaborate chandeliers and intricate carpentry are all unique ingredients of Chettinadu Mansion. Every home is an architectural splendour.

Day 08: Rameshwaram – Kanyakumari

Rameshwaram is a very important pilgrimage centre of India. The presiding deity is the Linga of Sri Ranganatha, which happens to be one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of India. Rameshwaram is also popularly referred to as the 'Benaras of the south'. In order to attain Moksha it is believed that the visit to Rameshwaram is mandatory.

In this day after breakfast there will be sightseeing of Rameshwaram. You will be taken to see the famous Ramanatha Swamy Temple. After the visit get driven to Kanyakumari. Check in the pre booked hotel and stay overnight.

Ramanatha Swamy Temple Rameshwaram, India is one of the major parts of the Hindu pilgrimage. It is believed that the pilgrim to Varanasi is incomplete without visiting this place. It is the temple of Lord Rama and a major tourist attraction down south. Apart from the religious reasons it is also well known for its architecture.

The Temple: Ramanatha Swamy Temple Rameshwaram, India is often referred to as the Benares of South India because it is believed that one attains salvation over here. The pilgrimage of Varanasi is said to be incomplete without paying visit to this temple. The temple contain the parts of Sri Ranganatha, it is among the famous Jyotirlingas speeded all over India. The place is believed to be constructed by Lord Rama while setting out to rescue his better half, Sita.

  

Day 09: Kanyakumari – Madurai

Have breakfast in the hotel. This day enjoy the beauty of Kanyakumari, the last point of India. You will be taken to see the famous attractions here.

Attractions in Kanyakumari

The clean and beautiful beaches are the prime attractions of Kanykumari.There are also other attractions on the beach like the Kumari Amman Temple.Dedicated to goddess Parvathi to mark the spot where the Goddess won Lord Shiva with her penance. The diamond nose ring of the goddess is famous for its dazzling glow. According to popular belief, the goddess protects India by guarding the southern gateway.

Day 10: Madurai – Kodaikanal

Have breakfast in the hotel. The day will be for city tour of Madurai. Madurai is famous for Meenakshi Temple built by kulasekara Pandaya. One of the temple dedicated to Meenaksahi (Parwati) and other to Lord Sundreswarar (Shiva). Tirumalai Nayakkar Mahal is about 1km south east of the Meenakshi temple, illustrate the architectural mastery of the Nayaks. Places to visit include

  • Teppakulam

Madurai is situated on the banks of Vaigai River. This city is more than 2500 years old and was important cultural and commercial centre even as early as 550 A. D. when the Pandvas made it their capital. Modern Madurai is a burgeoning industrial centre even though the vast stretches of lush paddy fields.

   
Day 11: Kodaikanal – Ooty

Have breakfast in the hotel. The day will be for sightseeing of Kodaikanal. Places of visit includes-

Day 12: Ooty – Coimbatore

Have breakfast in the hotel. The day will be for sightseeing of Ooty. Places of visit includes –

day you will also be taken for a Toy Train Ride. The Nilgiri Mountain Railway toy train is picturesque because of the surrounding rocky terrain, ravines, tea plantations and forested hills.

Nilgiri Mountain Railway is a treasured element and fabled charm of Nilgiris since 1899. This Nilgiri rail system is unique as it is the steepest one in Asia. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO during 2005. A century after it first attracted travelers, the Nilgiri Mountain Toy train continues to inspire weaving through forests, moving through time, along the valleys and into the little dark winding tunnels, round the bends, up the gradients, through the glens, trees and birds.

Day 13: Coimbatore

Have breakfast in the hotel. The day will be for sightseeing of Coimbatore. Places of visit included –
